TEMPLETON - Robert D. Pease, 91 of 11 Phillipston Rd., Templeton, died Wednesday, January 24, 2018 in the Soldiers Home, Holyoke, MA.
He was born in Winchendon, on April 5, 1926, the son of the late Lester and the late Agnes (Jensen) Pease.
Robert lived in Templeton all his life. He attended Templeton schools and graduated from Templeton High School in 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a Motor Machinist Mate 3rd Class serving with the Seabees. He received the WWII Victory Medal while serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater, Philippine Liberation and into Tin Sin China. He went on to attend UMASS Amherst Stockbridge School and graduated with his Associate’s Degree in 1948. He also attended the University of Wisconsin, graduating in 1966 and obtained his Master’s Degree from the University of Connecticut in 1972. He was a dairy farmer for a good portion of his life. He taught an agricultural class at Middletown High School, and landscaping at MWCC for 8 years. After retiring he returned to farming, where he became the proud owner of Pease Orchard in Templeton, taking over as owner/operator of his father’s apple orchard which has been in the family for three generations, since 1912.
He was a member of the New England Macintosh Growers Association, Mass Fruit Growers Association, First Church of Templeton, Baldwinville American Legion - Past Commander.
He leaves one son: David R. Pease and his wife Amy of Templeton; one sister, four grandchildren and five great grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Clemons of Stratham, NH.
He was predeceased by his wife, Elena B. (Binkauskas) Pease; one son, Paul L. Pease, one daughter, Katherine A Patalik, and one brother, Paul J. Pease; one sister: Marjorie Stone.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, February 14, at 11:00 A.M. at the First Church of Templeton, 1 Wellington Road, Templeton. Burial will be follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
