Robert Posk, age 65, born on October 3, 1958 and raised in Athol,  passed away on April 6, 2024.

Robert graduated from Athol High School in 1976.  He graduated from North Adams State College with a teaching degree. He taught for a year and then decided to take a different path.

He was proud to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.  One of his accomplishments was clearing a property he bought to build a home in which he succeeded.  He was a dedicated weightlifter in his younger years when he met Arnold Schwarzenegger at Golds' Gym and Lou Ferrigno while living in California.  He and other dedicated weightlifters in Athol formed the weight room downstairs at the Athol YMCA.

He loved sports, especially the Green Bay Packers football team.  He enjoyed playing Thanksgiving Day football in the yard with all the kid’s friends and family.  He was known as the fun Uncle. He had a witty sense of humor.  He also loved teasing his grandchildren along with other kids just to make them laugh.  One of his pleasures was going to Chumuras Bakery in Indian Orchard, Ma. to buy treats for his grandchildren.  He was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing his harvest with family and friends.

He was employed by L.S. Starrett Company for 42 years, retiring in 2022. Beginning his career as a college student working during the summer breaks. He later completed a tool course and eventually was sent to California for 4 years; New York for 5 years, and then back to home base in Athol as an outside sales representative. He was well respected in his field as well as in his personal life.  

He was a lifetime member and former president of the Franco-American Club in Athol and a longtime member of the Lithuanian Club in Athol.

He is preceded in death by his Father Francis (Frank). Grandparents and his special cousin Monica.

He leaves behind his wife of 41 years Gail, his mother, Majorie Posk, his children, Jeremy Posk (Charlotte) of Athol, Ashley Clarkson (Matt) of Orange; grandchildren, Logan and Zachary Posk, Makennah, Lillyanna, Brett, and Bryleigh Clarkson, sisters, Debra Rice (Brian), Pamela St. Hilaire (Kenneth); brother, Terry Posk (Sally) of Athol; nieces and nephews. Shelley Rice, Krista Sciucco, Andrew and Timothy St. Hilaire, Jamie Posk, and Alan Coffin.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the Diabetes Association.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at noon in the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Road, Orange.  Burial will be private. 

A calling hour will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2024, from 11 am to 12 p.m. in the funeral home.
