ATHOL- Robert F. Troope, age 76, of Athol died Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital of Worcester. Robert was born August 25, 1939 in Montague. He is the son of the late John Stark and the late Jenny W. (Adams) Troope. He married Irmgard Kloss on April 24, 1970.
Robert grew up in Athol, Orange, Pembroke and Bellingham and has lived in Athol most of his life.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He was employed by Union Twist Drill, McKenny's Service Station, Chase Machine and KRH Rolls, Inc.
He is survived by his wife: Irmgard (Kloss) Troope; one sister: Nancy Coffin and her husband Robert of Harwich;; three step children: Michael Master, Jr. and his wife Querida of Royalston, Ramona Fanaritis and her husband Nickitis of Londonderry, NH and Heidrun Heisler and her husband Mark of Phillipston; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Rosemary of Lady Lake, FL; nieces and nephews
He is predeceased by his sister, Mariam T. Adams and his brother, Walter Troope.
Private burial will be in Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.
Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main Street, Athol, is directing arrangements.
