GARDNER- Roderick Preliasco, 94, of Gardner, died Monday, June 25, after a short illness.
He was born July 13, 1923, son of the late Albert and Rose (Carbone) Preliasco. Rod graduated from Gardner High School in 1941. He was on the swim team and was class treasurer. He was Deputy Director of Manufacturing at Simplex Time Recorder where he worked for 44 years before retiring in 1986. Rod was a former member of Sacred Heart Church. He was a life member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council #396, a lifelong member of the Elks Lodge #1426, where he was an organist, and a member of AARP. He and his wife also volunteered at Wachusett Manor, playing organ. Rod also enjoyed dancing, roller skating, ice skating, going on cruises, bowling, and playing pool.
He leaves his wife of 72 years, Yvonne O. (Cormier) Preliasco; two sons, Alan Preliasco of Marlborough, and Richard Preliasco and his wife, Christine of N. Kingstown, RI; four grandsons, Robert of Austin, TX, Gregory of Cumberland, RI, Jeremy of Providence, RI, and Evan of Norwood; three great grandchildren, Desmond, Adrienne, and Aiden ; many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Preliasco was predeceased by his brother, Ret. Lt. Col. Alfred Parker.
A calling hour will be held Friday, June 29, from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. with the funeral starting at 11:00 A.M. at Lamoureux-Smith & Poliks Funeral Home, a Mack Family Funeral Home, 105 Central St., Gardner. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
