Leominster- Roger A. Houle, 68, of Leominster, passed away on Tuesday March 19, 2013, in the River Terrace Health Center in Lancaster, following a short illness. He was the son of the late Adelard and Laura (Gaudette) Houle. He was born in Leominster on April4, 1944 and grew up in Leominster and graduated from St. Bernard's High School.
Roger worked for General Electric as a draftsman, working in their Pittsfield location for 18 years and the transferring to Fitchburg where he worked for another 17 years until his retirement in 1997. He was a member of St. Cecilia's Church, a Life Member of the National Rifle Association. He also enjoyed collecting trains, building models and doing photography.
Roger leaves behind his wife of 33 years; Kim Houle of Leominster, one son; James Houle of Leominster, one daughter; Beth Marie Houle of Wakefield, one brother; Raymond Houle and his wife Patricia of Lunenburg, his in-laws; Ralph and Virginia Schwarzer of Cheshire, MA, one brother in-law; Nelson Ogert and his wife Crystal of Cheshire, MA, and many nices, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Roger was predeceased by his parents, one brother in-law; Daniel Ogert (2003), one sister in-law; Tammy Pecham (1983).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday March 23, 2013 at 10:00am in the St. Cecilia’s Church 180 Mechanic Street, Leominster. Burial will follow in St. Cecilia’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday March 22, 2013 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm in the Simard Funeral Home, 14 Walker Street Leominster, MA.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made in Roger’s name to the Beacon Hospice, 36 Williams Street Leominster, MA 01453 or may be left at the funeral home.
