ATHOL - Roger G. Kachinsky, 95 of 721 Lenox St., Athol, died Tuesday, August 28, 2007 in Athol Memorial Hospital, Athol.
He was born in Suffield, CT, on April 30, 1912, the son of the late John and the late Carolina (Biernat) Kachinsky.
Roger moved to Athol when he was 6 years old. He was educated in Athol.
He married the late Clara B. Albert on May 29, 1936.
He worked for the former U.T.D. for 48 years, reitring in 1977. While employed at U.T.D. he was a machinist for 25 years and a forman for 23 years.
He was a communicant of Our Lady Immaculate Church.
Roger was also a member of the Ellinwood Country Club for 45 years, a member of the "Night Owls" and played Gary Player´s Course in South Africa.
He also enjoyed playing horseshoes and was a member of the former Horseshoe Club where he was a Champion in the 1940s.
He leaves one daughter, Joanne M. Sheldon of Stanstead, Quebec, Canada; three grandchildren, Katherine Bedard, Edward Sheldon, Elaine Sheldon; five great-grandchildren and one sister, Stella Trinque of Athol.
Roger was predeceased by his wife of sixty-seven years, Clara B. (Albert) Kachinsky who died in 2005 and by his brothers Frank Kachinsky, Jacob Kachinsky and Paul Kachinsky.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, August 30, 2007 at 11:00 am in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol. Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery.
A calling hour will be held Thursday, August 30, 2007, from 9:30 -10:30 a.m. in the Fiske Funeral Home 1356 Main St., Athol.
