LEOMINSTER - Roger J. Leger, 78 of 20 Fifth Street, died Tuesday, July 4, 2006 in the Leo LaChance Nursing Home, Gardner surrounded by his family after a long illness.
He was born in St. Marie New Brunswick, Canada on February 4, 1928, the son of the late Alfred and the late Regina (Allain) Leger.
He moved to Leominster in 1951 where he was a builder-contractor, having built numerous homes in the local area. He was a member of St. Cecilia's Church and a former member of the Eagles and Franco American Club of Leominster.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Marie (Gauvin) Leger, one daughter; Denise Miller and her husband Roy of Baldwinville, two sons; Normand Leger and his wife Sandra of Templeton and Ronald Leger of Leominster, four grandchildren; Jeannette Obando, Michael Leger, Miranda Leger and Michelle Miller, a great granddaughter; Angelina Obando, three brothers; Eli Leger of Pomona, CA, Zenon Leger of Shediac NB, Canada and Desire Leger of St. Antoine NB Canada; and three sisters; Noella Leger of Attleboro, Bertha Devlin of St. Stephens NB Canada and Marie Lambert of Fitchburg.
He was predeceased by two brothers; Victor Leger and Gerald Leger.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, July 8, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia´s Church, 180 Mechanic Street, Leominster. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
