OTTER RIVER - Roger A. Martin, age 78, of Otter River died Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at home. Roger was born December 3, 1937 in Winchendon. He is the son of the late Neree P. and the late Josephine (Clavett) Martin.
He was employed as an Automotive Technician for 32 years at Stanley Garage and he retired from Salvador Auto in1999.
Roger grew up in Winchendon and graduated from Murdock High School with the class of 1956. He served in US Marine Corp from 1956 until 1958.
He was a former member of the Otter River Sportsman Club and a former member of the Watatic Ice Racing Association.
He enjoyed riding motorcycles with his wife, animals, old westerns on TV, and spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife: Mary R. (Tenney) Martin , two daughters: Donna L. Gerde of Gardner, and Debra L. Cataldo of Fitchburg, and one son: Timothy R. Martin of Otter River; three sisters: Jeannette Adams and Joanne Gingras both of Templeton and Germaine Brooks of Winchendon; He also has six grandchildren; Chad, Ross, Chelsea, Ashley, Jillian and Rachael; and two step grandchildren, Emily and Eric.
He is predeceased by his brothers Morell, Robert, and Gerard Martin, and his sister Gertrude Wilder.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 am on Friday, September 16 at Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St., Winchendon.
Calling hours will be Thursday, September 15 from 6-8pm at Lamoureaux-Fletcher Smith Funeral Home, 105 Central Street, Gardner.
