Roger O Prince

Leominster- Roger O. Prince, 85, a lifelong resident of Leominster, passed away in Health Alliance Hospital on Monday November 19, 2012 after a short illness. Roger was born in Leominster on February 9, 1927 to the late Felix and Arthemise (Bergeron) Prince. He attended St. Cecilia’s Elementary School and graduated from Worcester Trade School as a machinist. He enlisted in The United States Navy on January 4, 1945 and proudly served his country during World War II, where he received the World War II Victory Medal, the American Theatre Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Medal. Roger was an avid skier and a member for over 60 years with the Flopenaufen Ski Club where he traveled all over the world skiing. He was also a great fisherman. He was a member of St. Cecilia’s Church, St. Jeans Club, a charter member of the Franco Vets Post 13, and the Leominster Eagles. Roger worked for Guy P. Harvey as a machinist for many years, as well as with his cousin Henry at the Leominster Die Co., and then retired from Basque Tool & Die in Leominster. Roger will be greatly missed by all of his cousins who thought very fondly of him. Calling hours will be held from the Simard Funeral Home 14 Walker Street, Leominster on Friday November 23, 2012 from 9:30am – 10:30 am with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow in St. Cecilia’s Church 168 Mechanic Street Leominster at 11:00 am. Burial will follow with military honors at St. Cecilia’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Roger’s name be made to the St. Cecilia’s Restoration Fund, 168 Mechanic Street, Leominster, MA 01453 or may be left at the funeral home. . $(document).ready(function(){ });
