LEOMINSTER- Rosalie (Tata) Chillemi, 89, of Leominster, died peacefully, Wednesday, August 3, after an illness.
She was born March 6, 1927, in Leominster, a daughter of the late Frank and Rose (Pollastri) Tata. She was raised in Leominster, one of seven sisters. She worked for the former Foster Grant for over 20 years. Mrs. Chillemi enjoyed embroidering, dancing, and bowling. She was one of the original founders of the Leominster Lassie League and was a Red Sox and Patriots fan.
Her greatest joys centered around her family enjoying family dinners, vacationing on Cape Cod and Gloucester, spending time with her grandchildren, especially par 3 golfing with them and her husband.
Her husband of over 50 years, Salvatore Chillemi, died in 2000. She was also predeceased by four sisters, Claire LeBlanc, Tessa Tata, Beverly Hildreth, and Agnes Marcantonio.
She leaves one son, Francis Chillemi of Leominster; two daughters, Rosalind Fiandaca and her husband, John of Fitchburg, and Susan Onuma of CA; three grandchildren, Anthony Fiandaca and his wife, Annie of Waltham, Daniel Fiandaca and his wife, Melissa of Stamford, CT, and Tessa Chillemi of Portland, OR; two sisters, Phyllis Tata and Angelina DeCiantes; lifelong friend, Constance Cormier, wife of the late Robert Cormier; many nieces and nephews.
A calling hour will be held Monday, August 8, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in Simard Funeral Home, 14 Walker St., Leominster. The celebration of life will follow at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Leo's Cemetery.
