GARDNER - Rose Marie (Gray) Boutell, 78, of Gardner died Monday, May 22, 2017 at Fitchburg Gardens Nursing Home, Fitchburg.
Mrs. Boutell was born July 8, 1938 in Willimantic, Connecticut the daughter of the late Harry L. and the late Marie Anna (Metivier) Gray
She was the beloved wife of Donald Boutell who passed on June 27, 1991.
Rose worked 30 years with people: as a nurse’s aide, then as a nurse in numerous state and private agencies in hospitals in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New York, Texas, and New Hampshire.
She works 17 years as a hospital bedside nurse and later a charge nurse in the following areas child, adolescent, and adult psychiatric nursing care, rehabilitation, and referral. She also worked in substance abuse evaluation, detoxification, education referral and rehabilitation. She was also skilled in geriatric nursing care and rehabilitation.
Rose volunteered in several areas including the Girl Scout first aid classes, public health education care and referrals from very low income, lead poisoning education and action committee, rent control and tenant’s rights committee, education for and evaluation of children with learning disabilities, substance-abuse information and communication. She was also a volunteer of crisis foster care.
She leaves three children, son Kevin Bell and his wife Mary Jane of Gardner, two daughters Donna Bell and her fiancé Jeff Trapani of Gardner, daughter, Cheryl Eddy and her husband Dwayne Eddy of Winchendon, 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Lamoureux-Fletcher & Smith Funeral Home, 105 Central St., Gardner. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Templeton.
A calling hour will be Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 10 - 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
