GARDNER – Rose V. Caouette, 94 of Ashburnham, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2016 in Emerson Hospital, Concord.
She was born in Ashburnham on December 10, 1921, the daughter of the late John and Maria (Antonia) Mele. She resided in Ashburnham all her life. She was a graduate of Cushing Academy with the Class of 1940.
Mrs. Caouette was the first secretary to the Oakmont Regional High School in 1961 and employed there for many years. She also worked for Dr. James Faust in Gardner for 25 years. She was active in Ashburnham, having worked for the Board of Assessors and was the Treasurer for the Council on Aging for many years. She was a member of St. Anne’s Parish, the Forever Young Senior Club, Council on Aging and the Gold Key Society of Cushing Academy.
She leaves her nieces whom she called her “5 girls”, Paula Caouette, Priscilla Caouette, Rosann (Caouette) St.Jean, Lisa Dolan, and Susan Navin. She also leaves nieces and nephews: Grace (DeCarolis) Robbio, Deidre Robbio, James DeCarolis, Gene Launier, George Launier, of Florida; Joe Caouette of Ashburnham, Joe Caouette of Cape Cod, Wilfred Caouette of Kansas, Andy Caouette of NH, and Fern Tufts of Gardner and many more.
She was predeceased by her husband Charles Caouette in 1988.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Denis Church, 85 Main St., Ashburnham. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Winchendon.
A calling hour will be held Saturday, May 14 from 9:15 – 10:15 at the Mack Funeral Home, 91 Vernon St., Gardner, MA 01440.
