ATHOL - Rosemary (White) McLaughlin, 75 of Athol, died Thursday, January 04, 2007 at home.
She was born in Jamaica Plain, on July 5, 1931, the daughter of the late James J. and the late Bridget (Monagle) White.
She was a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School and Stratford Jr. College. She also attended Harvard School of Business.
She was employed by New England Hardware Magazine as the production manager and later as assistant to the editor of Atlantic Research in Alexandria, VA.
She was predeceased by her husband of 36 years, Thomas Leo McLaughlin in 1992; by two sisters, Dorothy White Dickinson and Catherine White.
She is survived by five sons, Thomas L. McLaughlin of Medway, MA; John J. McLaughlin of Brunswick, Maine; Stephen J. McLaughlin of Westford, MA; James M. McLaughlin of Chelsea,MA and Lawrence P. McLaughlin of Athol, MA; along with her beloved daughters in law; she also leaves five grandsons, Christopher McLaughlin, Noel McLaughlin, Thomas McLaughlin , Matthew McLaughlin and Mitchell McLaughlin and five granddaughters, Amanda McLaughlin, Kara McLaughlin, Caley McLaughlin , Amy McLaughlin and Lea Rosemary McLaughlin as well as her nieces, nephews and godchildren.
Rosemary was active in numerous organizations in Athol where she was always ready to lend a helping hand. She especially enjoyed the fitness and yoga classes at the YMCA and her annual visit to Marco Island, FL.
She was a devoted member of Our Lady Immaculate Church where she taught CCD for many years helping prepare the second graders to receive the First Eucharist. She later became a member of the Finance Committee.
She was a past member of the Athol Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered her time at the hospital Gift Shop
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 8, 2007, at 11:00 am in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, January 7, 2007, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home, 137 Main St., Athol, MA.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Our Lady Immaculate Church - Building Fund, 192 School St., Athol, MA 01331 or to a charity of one´s choice.
