Roy F. Metivier
Orange – Roy F. Metivier, 67, died Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Wachusett Manor in Gardner.
Roy was born in Marlborough, Massachusetts, August 3, 1946, the son of Francis and Shirley (Rixford) Metivier. Roy grew up in Hudson, MA where he also attended schools and since 1980 has resided in Orange.
Roy worked at the former Duall Plastics and the Orange Manufacturing Company for many years. He was a member of the Orange United Methodist Church, was an avid camper at Wagon Wheel Campground in Warwick and Peaceful Acres in Hubbardston. He enjoyed reading, crafts and did beautiful embroidery. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and his dog Fred.
He leaves his wife of 44 years, Jeannette LeBlanc Metivier; two daughters, Carleen Lloyd of Orange and Stacey Collins of Athol; six grandchildren, Kane, Saleen, Gabriel, Jessica, Kyle and Maddison; a sister, Ruth Fournier of Athol and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at the Orange United Methodist Church, 104 South Main Street, Orange with the Rev. Freda Maier of Athol officiating. Burial will follow at South Cemetery and calling hours will be held Tuesday, April 22nd from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main Street, Athol. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions may be made in Roy’s name to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701-9376.
