Ruth L.(Lacey) Brooks

ATHOL - Ruth L. (Lacey) Brooks, 89 of Athol, died Sunday, January 8, 2017 at home. She was born in Stafford, CT, on November 8, 1927, the daughter of the late Albert and the late Dora (Hulett) Lacey. Ruth grew up in East Longmeadow. She graduated from Springfield Classical High School in 1945. She moved to the Athol area in 1964. She was co-owner of and bookkeeper for Brooks-MacMannis Florist, and previously worked in the accounting department for General Electric in Pittsfield. Ruth was a member of the Quota Club and an active church member. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She leaves a daughter, Susan Nasson and her husband David of Lynnfield; a son, Robin Brooks and his wife Lynn of Athol; a daughter in-law Querida Masters of Royalston; a sister, Jean Lacey of East Longmeadow;7 grandchildren: Evan and Olivia Nasson, Trevor Brooks and his wife, Octavia, Tyler Brooks and his companion, Tillie Nutter, Wesley and Tara Brooks, and Heather O’Hara and her husband, Colin; Two great-grandchildren: Harper and Vernon Brooks, and one step-great grandchild, Ian Nutter, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Vernon L. Brooks who passed in 2016 and by her son, Dennis Brooks; by 4 siblings: Earl Lacey, Frank Lacey, Ethel Martin and Amy Young.
