Ruth E. Butcher

LEOMINSTER- Ruth E. (Demars) Butcher, 96, formerly of Ringer St., died Tuesday, July 19, in Apple Valley Center. Ruth was born February 9, 1920, in Leominster, daughter of the late Norman and Agnes (Coolidge) Demars. Ruth worked for the American National Red Cross Social Services Department at Ft. Devens Hospital for many years. She also advised and filed disability claims for WWII and Korean War veterans. Her husband, Henry Butcher, a disabled, 30 year veteran, died in the Bedford VA Hospital in 1996. Mrs. Butcher was interested in human societies and animal welfare. The funeral will be held Monday, July 25, at 11:00 A.M. in Simard Funeral Home, 14 Walker St., Leominster. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
