RUTH (OLIVER) FERRON
ATHOL- Ruth (Oliver) Ferron, 80, of 416 Main Street, died Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at home, following an illness. She leaves two daughters, Nancy Ferron of Fitzwilliam, NH and Barbara Couillard of Templeton; a brother, John Oliver of Michigan; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by two sons, John Ferron who died in 1990, and Francis Ferron who died in 1967.
She was born in Athol, June 24, 1922, a daughter of Roy and Flora (Lawler) Oliver, and was a lifelong resident of town and attended schools here.
Mrs. Ferron was a bookkeeper for Burbank Real Estate and Burbank Plumbing and Heating for several years, retiring in 1984. Previously, she worked for the J. F. MacElwain Shoe Company. An avid family member, she enjoyed playing Bingo and trips to Atlantic City. She was a diehard Red Sox fan.
Calling hours in the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home are Sunday, August 4, 2002 from 4 to 7 p.m.
The graveside service will be held Monday, August 5, 2002 at 11 a.m. in Silver Lake Cemetery. Following the graveside service, family and friends are invited to gather at the home of her granddaughter, Kena Stanley at 322 Intervale Ave. in Athol.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Gardner Visiting Nursing Association, Hospice Program, 34 Pearly Lane, Gardner, MA 01440.
