Ruth E. Gawronsky

Ruth E. (Wiggin) Gawronsky, 84, of 72 Wilson Ave., Athol, died Friday in Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol after an illness. She was born in Stratham, NH January 8, 1920, daughter of the late Howard and Lizzie (Thurston) Wiggin and lived here many years. She attended Stratham Schools, The Robinson Female Seminary in Exeter and the Concord College of Business. For many years prior to her retirement, Ruth was employed with the L.S. Starrett Co. of Athol. She was an active member of the Daughters of Isabella and enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushrooming and other outdoor activities. She leaves her husband of sixty-two years, Joseph A. Gawronsky; one son, John A. Gawronsky of Athol and one sister, Alice Timmins of Derry, NH. She was predeceased by five brothers, Albert, Howard, Norman, Robert and Kenneth Wiggin and three sisters, Lena Cutts, Jessica Robertson and Doris Frain. Her funeral will begin in the J. EDWARD MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 137 Main St., Athol on Tuesday at 10AM. A Funeral Mass in St. Francis of Assisi Church in Athol will follow at 11AM. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.
