Ruth grew up in Athol and graduated from Athol High School with the Class of 1952. While in school, Ruth played the French horn in the marching band and was proud to have received her 4 year pin upon graduation. She was an active member of the 1952 Class Reunion Committee. After graduation, she worked at the concession stand at the former York Theater in Athol, where she met her future husband Joe. She also worked at the L. S. Starrett Tool Company and Little Tots Day Care. Ruth was an active member of Our Lady Immaculate Church where she participated in Family Life Ministry, was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Catholic Women's League, Couple to Couple Ministry, was on the board for the Joseph Marcotte Scholarship, and was a Eucharistic Minister at Mass and to the homebound. Her faith was her foundation in her married life and raising her family. Ruth also had many memorable trips to Wells, ME. Ruth was an accomplished seamstress and worked for local men's clothiers for many years. She was proud to have made most of her children's clothes and passed her talent on to her daughters. Ruth also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and needlework. She played all the games her children requested of her, even though she wasn't really a game player. Ruth loved spending time with her family, but nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her grandchildren & great grandchildren.
