Ruth M (Nye) Bacon

ATHOL - Ruth M (Nye) Bacon, 82 of Athol, died Monday, October 6, 2014 in the Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol. She was born in Athol, on December 22, 1931, the daughter of the late Harold and the late Florence (Bishop) Nye. She grew up in Athol and graduated from Athol High School with the Class of 1949. Ruth was a homemaker and also worked as a substitute teacher and cafeteria worker. She was a member of the Athol Congregational Church. She loved her grandchildren and taking care of her family.  She enjoyed reading, playing cards, boating, camping, playing horseshoes and summers in Maine. She leaves her husband: Norman A. Bacon:  two daughters: Barbara McLaren of Athol, MA, Brenda Strunjo of Athol; three granddaughters:  Molly McLaren, Amanda McLaren, Jenna McCurdy; one great granddaughter:  Natalie Ruth McCurdy; one brother:  William Nye of Nashua, NH. Funeral services are private at the family's request. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Athol High School Scholarship Association, P.O.
