Sally Adams Ryder, 67, of Tarpon Springs, Florida passed away on June 20 surrounded by her family.
Sally was born in Gardner, Mass to Clifford P. and C. Virginia Adams on Nov 27, 1948 and grew up in Athol on Fredette Street. She graduated Maria Assumpta Academy in 1966 and married her childhood sweetheart, David on May 28 that same year. She celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary last month.
Sally and her family moved to Fairport NY in 1977, Vernon Hills IL in 1978, Hudson OH in 1987 and Dayton OH in 2001 before arriving in Tarpon Springs, FL in 2003. Sally enjoyed traveling throughout the US and Europe, and some of her favorite trips were to Hampton Beach, Hawaii, Myrtle Beach, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Budapest.
When Sally was first married, she worked at the Athol Credit Union, The Drum Restaurant and for Dr. Benedetti. Sally graduated Wachusett Community College in 1970 and Northeastern Illinois University summa cum laude in 1984. Sally became a CPA in 1985 while living in Chicago and worked for a Big 10 firm and then Moore Business Forms before founding her own firm. She owned Libman, Ryder & Co, a successful financial services and benefits company and Adams Ryder Financial Services, an investments company in Cleveland, OH. She was presented numerous awards, including The Weatherhead 100 Outstanding Growth Company in 1996. Upon relocating to Tarpon Springs, FL, she was the title agent and owner of Westshore First Title Services and a partner in WestshoreFirst Real Estate and 1st American Mortgage.
Sally had an infectious smile, a beautiful laugh and an open heart for everyone she met. She enjoyed watching TV and movies, eating out with friends, talking on the phone with her family and telling knock knock jokes to her granddaughter. Sally and her husband were usually first on the dance floor and would be there all night. She made a difference in the life of every person she met.
Sally is preceded in death by her parents Clifford P. and C. Virginia (Fredette) Adams and a daughter, Tammy Lee Ryder.
Sally is survived by her husband David Paul Ryder of Tarpon Springs, FL, daughter Jenifer Ryder O’Keefe and her husband William of Glastonbury, CT, son Jason Michael Ryder and fiancé Laura Headrick of Holiday, FL, and granddaughter Taylor Ryder O’Keefe of Glastonbury, CT. She is also survived by her two brothers and their wives; Larry and Debra Adams of Athol, MA; Michael and Nancy Adams of Bradford, MA and three sisters and their husbands; Deborah and Ted Kelly of Hingham, MA; MaryLou and Rich Perry of Hull, MA and Katie and John Williams of Orange, MA. Sally is survived by her in-laws Francis and Pauline Ryder of Plant City, FL, brother-in-laws and their wives; Francis and Marilyn Ryder of Brookfield, FL; Robert and Donna Ryder of Tarpon Springs, FL; John Ryder of Plant City, FL and a sister-in-law and her husband; Jean and Vinnie Daddio of Seymour, CT.
Sally has thirteen nephews Nicholas Adams, Michael Adams, David Adams, Peter Adams, Anthony Castellano, Geoffrey Campion, Jonathan Campion, Greg Perry, Troy Ryder, Sean Ryder, Andrew Ryder, Aaron Ryder, Christopher Ryder and ten nieces Sonja (Kelly)Tordone, Kimberly (Adams) Driscoll, Jessica (Adams) Knoop, Rebecca (Adams) Pandolfo, Veronica (Campion) Dieda, Amy (Castellano) Santos, Erica Perry, Kristin (Ryder) Osborn, Nicole (Clucus) Sutliff and Jacquelyn Clucus.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the wake at the Higgins O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main St., Athol, Thursday, June 30 from 6-8pm. A Funeral Mass in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol will be held at 10AM. Burial will take place in Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol.
