GARDNER - Samuel Cardona Diaz, 24 of 126 Pine St. died Tuesday, July 25, 2006 in the UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus following injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico on September 2, 1981, the son of Luis and Sixta Diaz. As a child he enjoyed the outdoors and was very adventurous. In 1991 he moved to Athol where he attended school, meeting his future wife in the fifth grade. Later Elizabeth and Samuel reunited and had their first son Alexander on July 4, 2001 and were married on September 14, 2002. He moved to Florida in 2003 and started working as a cook in various restaurants. His second son Samuel was born on Oct. 13, 2003. He enjoyed cooking and was good at it. In 2005 he moved back to Massachusetts and started working at Applebees in Chelmsford. His third son Josiah was born March 31, 2006. He was a member of the Redemption Rock Church in Westminster. Samuel enjoyed his family, snowboarding, dancing, outdoor activities, drawing, working on his car and fishing with his children. He was a great husband and father and was always joking around. Everyone he met grew to love him and he will be missed very much. There is nothing that he wouldn't do for anyone. He leaves his wife, Elizabeth A. (Baldic) Cardona; three sons, Alexander Cardona, Samuel Cardona and Josiah Cardona; his parents, Luis A. Cardona and Sixta Diaz of Athol; two brothers, Oscar Rivera of Douglasville, GA and Ivan Cardona of Gardner; and six sisters, Elvira Ortiz of Lakeland, FL, Alicia Cardona of Lakeland, FL, Ivonne Cardona of Athol, Kayla Calo of Puerto Rico, Jennifer Espinosa of Westfield and Johanna Espinosa of Baldwinville. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 29, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fiske Funeral Home, 1356 Main Street, Athol. Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery, Athol. Calling hours will be held Saturday, July 29, 2006 from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. in the Fiske Funeral Home.
