LEOMINSTER- Shirley B. (Boynton) Cotter, 94, of Leominster, formerly of Arlington, died Tuesday, December 4, after a short illness.
Shirley was born April 24, 1924, and raised in Jefferson, Maine, daughter of the late Chester and Addie (Knight) Boynton. She was a Registered Nurse and graduated from the University of New Hampshire and Mass General Hospital School of Nursing. She always loved Maine and returned regularly to visit friends and family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Leo P. Cotter, her son, Ronald Cotter, and siblings, Virginia Burke, Alden Boynton, Marsha Mannenin, George Boynton, and Dana Boynton.
She leaves three children, Dr. Eric P. Cotter and his wife, Jayne of Sterling, Mija Edge and her husband, William of Leominster, and Daniel Cotter of Waltham; eight grandchildren, Eric P Cotter, II and his wife, Crystal of Millis, Christopher R. Cotter and his wife, Ashley of South Easton, Jonathan A. Cotter and his wife, Mary Beth of Pensacola, FL, Brett Alexander Cotter of Sterling, Shawn Edge and Christian Edge, both of Leominster, Jimmy Fowlie of West Hollywood, and Tracy Lynn Dillon of East Boston; one brother, Albert Boynton; nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are Friday , December 7, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Simard Funeral Home, 14 Walker St., Leominster.
The funeral Mass will be held Saturday, December 8, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia’s Church, 180 Mechanic St., Leominster. Burial will be private in Jefferson, Maine, in the Boynton family plot along with her mother, father, and deceased siblings.
