Shirley H. (Rathburn) Recos

PETERSHAM / ORANGE - Shirley H. (Rathburn) Recos, 81 of Orange and formerly of Petersham, died Wednesday, January 4, 2017 in the Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol, MA. She was born in Tully, on November 30, 1935, the daughter of the late Wesley and the late Helena (Laffond) Rathburn. She moved to Athol when she was about 6 years old. She graduated from Athol High School, and was a resident of Petersham for over 50 years, recently moving to King James Court in Orange. She was a member of Franco American Club, Lithuanian Club, and Quabbin Anglers Board of Directors. Shirley was a very strong willed woman, overcoming many obstacles in her lifetime. She leaves four daughters: Rexine Barnes of Petersham, Sherry Barnes of Orange, Jo-Ann Stone of Athol, Julie Moschetti of Templeton; one son: Eric Recos of Petersham; one brother: Richard Rathburn of Orange; Eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A large extended family, and her life-long friend Shirley (Pratt) Recos. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years: George Recos in 2008 and one brother: David Rathburn in 2014. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Sunday, January 15th from 1:00 – 5:00 pm at the Wheelerville Community Club, 698 East Main St., Orange.
