HUBBARDSTON – Sidney White, 87, of 57 Ragged Hill Road, Hubbardston died Wednesday, May 23, 2012 in the Keystone Nursing Center, Leominster. He was born in Hubbardston on March 17, 1925 the son of Royal E. and Ella (Lyman) White.  He grew up in Hubbardston and went on to attend the Worcester Trade School. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army.  He received the Good Conduct Medal, the Purple Heart, Presidential Unit Citation in Montecatini Italy, the Bronze Star and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon. Mr. White was employed at Gardner Screw Company for over 40 years as Foreman of the Pressroom.  He was a member of the Polish American Veterans, the Gardner VFW, a former member of the Town of Hubbardston Cemetery Commission and a former member of the Hubbardston Police Department.  He was active in the World War II monument committee in Hubbardston and a member of the Golden Ages and AARP. He leaves three sons, Kenneth J. White and his wife Gisele of Wappinger Falls, NY, Michael P. White and his wife Eleana of Sparta, NC, Edward K. White and his wife Eileen of Hubbardston; thirteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Claire A. (Gaidanowicz) White who died in 2011 and by his son, Steven R. White who died in 1995. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 29, 2012 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church 358 Pleasant St., Gardner.  Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Gardner. A calling hour will be held Tuesday, May 29, 2012 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Poliks Funeral Home, 431 Pleasant St., Gardner. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Golden Agers of Hubbardston, 7 Main St., Unit #3, Hubbardston, MA 01452.
