Sister Rose Alice Hebert, 94, of the Sisters of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin, of North Main Street, died Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at Assumption Residence after a short illness. Formerly known as Sister Therese-de-Rome, she professed 73 years of religious vows.
Born in Millbury, MA, she was the daughter of Ovide and Flore Hebert. She obtained a bachelor's degree from Rivier College and a master's degree from Assumption College. Sister taught the primary grades in several places including Lowell, Indian Orchard, and Brockton, MA, Glens Falls, NY and Greenville, N.H. For the remainder of her religious life she performed varied community services and participated in the prayer ministry.
In addition to her sisters in community, Sr. Rose Alice is survived by a sister, Claire Desrosiers and her husband Paul, and a brother Joseph, all of Millbury, as well as several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by two brothers and three sisters.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, October 20, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. in the Assumption Residence Chapel. Burial will be in the East Street Cemetery, Petersham. Calling hours at the Residence are Thursday, October 19, 2006 from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of the Assumption Retirement Fund, P.O.
