GARDNER - Sophie V. (Buraczewski) Cichonski, 92 of 18 Wright Street, Gardner, died Sunday, July 11, 2010 in the Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner.
She was born in Gardner, on January 13, 1918, the daughter of the late John and Katherine (Astramecki) Buraczewski, and the wife of the late Zenon Cichonski, who died in 1994.
She was a life long resident of Gardner, and a lifetime member of St. Joseph's Church. She was also a member of the Rosary Sodality of the church, Golden Age Club, and a former member of Polish Roman Catholic Union.
Her hobbies included bingo, bowling, playing cards, and traveling with her family. Her family was her inspiration. She was a devoted church member and served on many committees of the church.
She leaves one son: Henry P. Cichonski of Gardner; one sister, Jennie Slomski of Gardner; two grandchildren, Peter Cichonski and his wife Jackie of Marietta, California; Gregg Cichonski and his wife Anna of Peachtree, Georgia; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Buraczewski and Irene Flis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at 10:00 am in St. Joseph's Church, 358 Pleasant St., Gardner. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, July 13, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Poliks Funeral Home 431 Pleasant St., Gardner.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to St. Joseph's Church - Restoration Fund, 358 Pleasant St., Gardner, MA 01440.
