GARDNER - Sophie (Yablonski) Zablonski, 93, of 87 Church St., Gardner, died Friday, May 2, 2008 in the Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner.
She was born in Gardner, on May 24, 1914, the daughter of the late Ignacy and the late Maryanna (Uszynski) Yablonski.
She was a sales clerk, employed by the former Goodnow Pearson before her retirement in 1973. She also worked at the former Hatton Press of Gardner for over 10 years, and Florence Stove Company. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church and the Holy Rosary Sodality. She was also a member of the Golden Age Club, the Polish Women's Political Club, and the Polish American Social League. Her hobbies included crocheting, cooking, baking, playing cards, and spending time with her loving family.
She leaves one son, Henry Zablonski and wife Alice of Gardner; her daughter-in-law, Ann Zablonski of Worcester; three grandchildren, Richard Zablonski of Winchendon, Karen Litchfield and husband Don of Royalston, Leigh Shircliff and husband Matt of Worcester; and three great grandchildren, Trevor Cramb, Jill Zablonski, and Matthew Shircliff.
She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Anthony C. Zablonski, also by her son, Frank Zablonski; and by her four brothers, Alexander Yablonski, Stanley Yablonski, Wacy "Peter" Yablonski, and Joseph Yablonski.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at 10:00 am in St. Joseph's Church, 358 Pleasant St., Gardner. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours will be held Monday, May 5, 2008 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Poliks Funeral Home 431 Pleasant St., Gardner.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to N.I.C.U. UMass Memorial Medical Center, 67 Belmont St., Worcester, MA 01605, where two of her great grandchildren received life-saving medical care. They were treated with great care at the hospital, and the family would like to express their gratitude for their acts.
