Sr. Doris Bissonnette

PETERSHAM – The Sisters of the Assumption and the Bissonnette Family of Laconia N.H, mourn the loss of Sister Doris Bissonnette, age 94, who passed away Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Marie Esther Health Center of Marlboro, MA. She was a professed religious of the Sisters of the Assumption for 73 years and was known under the name of Sister Joseph-de-l’Espérance.               Daughter of Joseph and Georgianna (Fecteau) Bissonnette, she was a native of Laconia, NH. She became a professed member of the Sisters of the Assumption on August 22, 1935.               Sr. Doris obtained a BA degree from Rivier College in Nashua, NH. She taught in parochial schools in Glen Falls and Hudson Falls, NY, Bristol and Meriden, CT, Spencer and Salem, MA and Barton VT. When she reached retirement age, she was happy to serve as a pastoral minister in her native parish of Sacred Heart, Laconia, NH.               Sr. Doris is survived by her sister-in-law, Martha Bissonnette, several nieces and nephews, as well as the beloved members of her religious community, the Sisters of the Assumption.               A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Assumption Residence Chapel. Interment will follow in the East St. Cemetery, Petersham.   Calling hours will be held Monday, December 26, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Assumption Residence, 211 North Main St., Petersham with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m.   In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sisters of the Assumption Retirement Fund, 211 North Main St., Petersham, MA 01366.     $(document).ready(function(){ });
