Sr. Cecile LeFrancois

PETERSHAM - Sr. Cecile LeFrancois, formerly know as Sr. Cecile-de-Milan of the Sisters of the Assumption, of Petersham, passed away on May 9, 2011. She was a native of Salem, Mass., daughter of Arthur and Delphina (Lebel) LeFrancois. She became a professed member of the Sisters of the Assumption on Feb. 18, 1934. Sr. Cecile attended Salem High School and obtained a BA from Rivier College in Nashua, N.H. She taught parochial schools in Trios Rivieres, Quebec; Massachusetts, Connecticut and New Hampshire for 47 years. She then served as a nurse's aide at Assumption Wellness Center and performed various community services. Sr. Cecile passed away peacefully at Assumption Residence. Sr. Cecile is survived by many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and by the beloved members of her religious family. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 12, from 2 to 7 p.m., at the Assumption Residence, with a prayer service at 3 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 13, at 10 a.m., at the Assumption Residence Chapel, followed by interment in the East Street Cemetery, Petersham. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sisters of the Assumption Retirement Fund, 211 North Main St., Petersham, Mass. 01366. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the J.
