Sr. Lorraine Gagne, SASV 89
The Sisters of the Assumption mourn the loss of Sr. Lorraine Gagne (Sr. Paul-Bernard) who died peacefully at Alliance Health at Marie Esther on Friday October 13, 2023.
She was a native of Meriden, Connecticut, the daughter of Irene (LaQuerre) Gagne and Albert Gagne.
Sr. Lorraine attended St. Laurent Elementary School in Meriden, CT. and Waterbury catholic High in Waterbury, CT. At nineteen years old, she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin in Nicolet, Canada. Following her profession on August 14, 1961, she served in the ministry of education as a teacher in elementary schools in Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York. She served as Principal in Meriden, Connecticut where she was loved and appreciated. She also devoted time to minister to the aging.
She was a wonderful and friendly person. Sr. Lorraine spent her last years at Marie Esther Health Center where she received loving and professional care.
In addition to all her Sisters, the Sisters of the Assumption, Lorraine is survived by her five brothers, Raymond, Denis, Francis, Marc and Arthur as well as nieces, nephews, grand and great grand nieces and nephews. Her sister, Bernadette Dillon and. her brothers Bernard, Paul, Raoul and Daniel predeceased her.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at St. Anne's Chapel in Marlborough, MA.
She will lay to rest in the East Street Cemetery, Petersham, MA on Saturday, October 21, 2023.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Rd. Orange, MA.
