PETERSHAM – The Sisters of the Assumption mourn the loss of Sr. Beatrice Monette, formerly known as Sr. Beatrice-du-Sacre-Coeur, who passed away at St. Vincent Hospital on Sunday, September 1, 2013.
She was a native of Lowell, MA, the ninth child of ten born to the late Hector and the late Laura (Chasse) Monette on August 19, 1927.
Sr. Beatrice entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Assumption in January of 1947. Following her profession of first vows in 1949, she served in the ministry of education in parochial schools, teaching in MA, CT, NH and NY for twenty-five years. She served over thirty years in Pastoral Ministries. She also served as Director of Religious Education as well as Director of the SASV Associate Program. For the past year she resided at the Marie Esther Health Center in Marlboro, MA.
Sr. Beatrice is survived by one sister: Sr. Lucille, formerly known as Sr. Lucille-de-l’Enfant-Jesus of Marlboro; her niece: Sr. Rita Jeanne Monette of Petersham, and several other nieces and nephews; the Sisters of the Assumption worldwide and the Sisters of St. Anne and Staff, Marlboro. She was predeceased by her sisters: Gladys, Irene, Cecile, Rita and Lauretta and by her brothers: Hector, Leo and Maurice.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2013 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., closing with a Prayer Service at the Sisters of St. Anne Convent, 720 Boston Post Rd., Marlboro, MA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 6, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Sisters of St. Anne in Marlboro. Sr. Beatrice will be laid to rest in the East Street Cemetery, Petersham.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sisters of the Assumption Retirement Fund, 211 North Main St., Petersham, MA, 01366.
