GARDNER - Stanley Narkevicius, 67 of Gardner, died unexpectedly on
Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Heywood Hospital, Gardner.
He was born in Lithuania on February 14, 1943, the son of the late
Benedictas and the late Bronislava (Goncauskas) Narkevicius.
Stanley was raised and educated in Gardner. He was a veteran of the
Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army and was decorated as an expert
rifleman and sharpshooter.
His employment history included Ikonen Tool and Die Co., GEM
Industries Inc., and Simplex Time Recorder Co. where he retired in
2004 after working for approximately 30 years as a Machinist.
Stanley was a communicant of Holy Spirit Church. He was a member of
the Gardner American Legion, the Lithuanian Association, Gardner Rifle
& Pistol Club, Westminster Rod & Gun Club, Templeton Fish & Game Club
and the Hubbardston Rod & Gun Club.
Stanley was a devoted family man and loved spending time with his
children and caring for his grandchildren. He was an avid trout and
bass fisherman, and fulfilled his passion for marksmanship through
competitive shooting at the various clubs. He was always proud to
share his catch or prize meats with family and friends. He enjoyed
camping, riding motorcycles, following Gardner High football, watching
the Patriots and NASCAR, and displayed a contagious laugh when
watching his Pink Panther collection. Being a talented mechanic,
there was hardly a moment when he didn't have multiple projects in
process on his vehicles or outdoor equipment. Stanley was often known
to tell you what "the main thing is", and would not easily pass up a
chance to go to breakfast with family and friends after Sunday morning
church. To those who knew him well, Stanley was very dependable and
hard working, never hesitating to lend a helping hand. The fact that
he was a 6 year cancer survivor is a testament to his strong will and
perseverance. He has been an inspiration to many and will be missed
dearly by all.
He leaves his wife of 44 years, Mary (Ikonen) Narkevicius; two
daughters, Mary Weber of West Boylston, Laura Narkevicius of North
Carolina; seven sons, James Narkevicius and his wife Pauline of Athol,
Scott Narkevicius and his wife Sandra of Wakefield RI, Steven
Narkevicius of Fitchburg, John Narkevicius of East Templeton, Michael
