ATHOL - Stefan Wawzyniecki, 86, of Athol died Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Heywood Hospital of Gardner.
Mr. Wawzyniecki was born in 1928 in the Ukraine, the son of the late Ivan and the late Katherine Wawzyniecki.
As an adult he moved to the United States in May of 1951 through Ellis Island.
Mr. Wawzyniecki worked at the Union Twist Drill Company and for Plotkin Furniture.
He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church. He enjoyed refinishing furniture.
He is survived by one daughter, Christine A. Miranda of Athol; one son, Stefan Wawzyniecki, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Vernon, CT; five grandchildren, Jessica Hinton; Lisa Miranda; Peter Wawzyniecki; Emily Miranda; Rachel Wawzyniecki; three great-grandchildren, Benjamin Hinton, Margaux Hinton and Lucas Field.
He was predeceased by his wife, Rose Wawzyniecki in 2005.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at 11 a.m.in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 101 Main St., Athol. Burial will be in Silver Lake Cemetery, Athol.
A calling hour will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.in the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home 110 New Athol Road, Orange.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 101 Main St., Athol, MA 01331.
