Stella G. "Kitty" Fanelli

LAKE PLACID - Stella G. "Kitty" Fanelli, 77, of Lake Placid, FL and formerly of Athol, died Sunday, April 18, 2010 in the Lake Placid Health Care, Lake Placid, Florida. She was born in Columbus, Georgia, on December 14, 1932, the daughter of Benjamin Crawley and Stella Noble Crawley. Kitty was raised in Georgia and later moved to Athol. She was a telephone operator for many years and also worked in the Tax Assessor's Office for the Town of Athol. She worked in medical administration for Athol Memorial Hospital many years ago. At age 68, Kitty had spent forty-seven years raising a wonderful family so she then decided to fulfill her dream to attend college and earn a degree. She graduated in 2001 from Mount Wachusett Community College with a certificate in the Medical Assistant field. Upon her graduation, Kitty worked at Heywood Hospital in Gardner. She and her husband had wintered in Florida since 1988 and later moved to Lake Placid, Florida. She was a member of the Athol Memorial Hospital and Heywood Hospital Auxiliaries. She was a Eucharistic minister and member of the choir at Our Lady Immaculate Church. She enjoyed traveling with her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She leaves three daughters, Marie Bushey and her husband Charles of Westminster, Querida Masters and her husband Michael of Royalston, Dianne LeBlanc and her husband Peter of Richmond, Virginia; eight grandchildren, Miranda Bushey of New York, NY, Allyson Bushey and Charles Bushey both of Westminster, Wesley Brooks of Montague, Heather Brooks O'Hara and her husband Colin and Tara Brooks all of Athol, Peter LeBlanc and Phillip LeBlanc and his wife Jocelyn of Hartford, CT. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Leo J. Fanelli on January 14, 2007; and by her sister, Elizabeth Givens. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Kitty and Leo's 56th Wedding Anniversary, Saturday, May 29, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol. Those attending the Mass are kindly requested to go directly to the church on Saturday morning. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Our Lady Immaculate Church Building Fund, 192 School St., Athol, MA 01331. $(document).ready(function(){ });
