ATHOL - Stephanie (Watkevich) Krustapentus, 92 of 14 Allen St., Athol, died Sunday, July 20, 2008 in the Athol Memorial Hospital, Athol.
She was born in Athol on December 23, 1915, the daughter of the late Paul and the late Amelia (Vareika) Watkevich.
She grew up in Athol and graduated from Athol High School in 1933 and went right into law school at the Portia Law School in Boston, an exclusive law school for women, now the New England School of Law. She graduated in 1937 and worked for a lawyer in Boston for a year before taking the bar exam. She then moved back home with her parents and opened up her own law office in Gardner right after Pearl Harbor. She practiced law for over 69 years.
She married John Krustapentus whom she met in town in 1947 and they had two children.
She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church and the first president of the WomenAƒA¢A‚a‚¬A‚a„¢s Guild. She was a member of the Athol School Committee and was instrumental in building the new high school. She was one of the founders of the Athol Quota Club and itAƒA¢A‚a‚¬A‚a„¢s first president. She was on the Rationing Board during WWII assisting with tire rationing.
Mrs. Krustapentus was and avid traveler, loved art, music and was an avid Red Sox fan.
She leaves one daughter: Emilie Krustapentus of PacificA and one son: Paul J. Krustapentus of Athol; three cousins and their families in Panevezys, Lithuania and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her Husband of 50 years, John E. Krustapentus who died in 1998, and her brother Anthony Watkevich.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, July 24, 2008 at 11:00 am in the St. Francis of Assisi Church, 101 Main St., Athol. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home.
