Stephen J. "Maxie" MacDonald

PLANO - Stephen J. "Maxie" MacDonald, 56, of 6916 Burr Oak Drive, Plano, Texas, and formerly of Athol, died unexpectedly Monday, April 7, 2008 in Plano, Texas. He was born in Athol, on February 18, 1952, the son of James "Fireball" and the late Eleanor "Tiny" (Cadran) MacDonald. He attended Athol High School and participated in track and football before his graduation. He was a communicant of Our Lady Immaculate Church until moving to Texas in 1998. He helped coach Little League in Athol for several years, and also helped with his daughter's soccer team. He started the Main Street Gym at YMCA in Athol many years ago. Mr. MacDonald worked as Director of Quality and Regulatory at Genesis Biosystems in Texas. He enjoyed cigars, and was very interested in his family tree and the genealogy of the MacDonald's. He attended many Scottish festivals, and was a member of the Harley Davidson Chapter of Plano, Texas. He loved his family very much and will be greatly missed. He leaves two daughters, Stacey Woodbury and husband Casey of Leominster, and Meredith MacDonald of Orange; his friend and former wife, Sheryl (Dresser) MacDonald; his girlfriend, Lisa Egerman of Plano, TX; four sisters, Michelle MacDonald of Petersham, Marguerite Mundell and husband Pete of Athol, Melinda Powling and husband Wade of Orange, Melissa Truehart and husband Keith of Orange; also several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, one great nephew, and many friends. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 15th at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol. Burial at Silver Lake Cemetery will be at a later date. Calling hours will be held Monday, April 14th from 6-8 p.m. at the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home, 137 Main St., Athol. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Clara Barton Foundation, 250 West Ninth Street, P.O. Box 25, Hoisington, KS 67544.
