Westminster-Susan J. Dodge, 69, passed away the morning of Thursday, June 22, 2023.
Sue was the daughter of the late Jean (Gina) Dodge of Athol and granddaughter of the late Louis and Quirina Berton of Athol.
She is survived by her brothers Howard Dodge, Leno Dodge, and John Dodge of Athol, and Robert Dodge and his wife Leah Dodge of Florida, and her sisters Jeanne Dodge of Greenfield, Floris Cheung and her husband Allen Cheung of East Longmeadow, and Marie Dodge of Ayer. She was predeceased by her brother James Dodge of Athol. She was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews. Sue was also an “aunt” to so many that she took in and treated like family. She was very dedicated to her family and always made sure they knew that she loved and cared for them.
Sue was a proud graduate of the former Maria Assumpta Academy and Salem State College. She enjoyed her career as an international auditor, which took her all over the world. In her retirement, Sue volunteered for many years with the Literacy Volunteers of Greater Worcester, teaching English to new immigrants to the U.S. She also enjoyed introducing her students to American traditions and culture. She formed lasting friendships with many of the people she tutored.
Sue knitted scarfs and hats that she donated to those in need. Her favorite pastime was traveling; she was able to visit many countries around the world both for work and pleasure. Her family and friends loved hearing interesting stories from her travels. She always strived to make others in her life happy and she truly lived that out until the end of her life.
At Sue’s request, no services are planned. Donations in Sue’s memory may be made to New England Donor Services at https://neds.org/.
