Susan Higgins

GARDNER - Susan Higgins, age 72, of Gardner died Friday, September 23, 2016 at Heywood Hospital in Gardner. Susan was born June 2, 1944 in Lunenburg. She is the daughter of the late Maurice and the late Ida (Gauvin) Picard. Susan grew up in a large family and attended schools in Lunenburg. Family gatherings were special to her. Her grandchildren and her great granddaughter brought her so much joy; they were the loves of her life. She enjoyed gardening and all her flowers in the summer, and in the fall, going for rides to see the foliage. She also enjoyed going to Hampton beach, the movies and visiting the casinos. It brought her joy to bake at Christmas time for the Veterans Outreach center. She is survived by her loving husband: Bruce Higgins and one daughter: Lisa Kirouac and her husband Dean of Leominster: she also has four grandchildren: Amber Mills, Ethan Kirouac, Evan Kirouac, and Lauryn Kirouac: one great granddaughter, Aubrey Schubarth: two sisters: Barbara Grillo of Templeton and Christine Smith and her husband Daryl of Clinton: and three brothers: Maurice Picard of Westminster, David Picard of CA, and Roger Picard of Leominster. Her brother Robert Picard predeceases her. A graveside service will be held private at the family request. Poliks Funeral Home, 431 Pleasant Street, Gardner, is directing arrangements.
