ATHOL- Tekla (Leszczuk) Bedard, 92, of Athol, died Friday, March 31, in Athol Hospital, after an illness.
She was born October 11, 1924, in Ukraine, daughter of the late Paul and Mary Leszczuk. She came to the United States in 1957 from Germany. She worked in manufacturing at several different places. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, Leon, especially Lake George, Hampton Beach, and Bar Harbor. She also enjoyed going to Magic Wings in S. Deerfield. Mrs. Bedard enjoyed the outdoors and was a talented flower and vegetable gardener. She and her husband loved dancing together.
She leaves her husband of 39 years, Leon Bedard; one daughter, Helena (Dziuba) Nyman and her husband, Robert H. of Gardner; one son, Stephan Lech and his wife, Nancy of Pepperell; four grandchildren, Kristina Lucas and her husband, Jeffrey of Clinton, Robert P. Nyman of Rock Hill, SC, Joanna Williams of Pepperell, and Travis Lech and his wife, Liana of Pepperell; five great grandchildren, Benjamin and Kaylee Lucas, Brianna and Terrence Williams, and Tyler Lech.
Calling hours are Thursday, April 6, from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. in Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Rd., Orange. The funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 A.M. in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery.
