Gardner- Thaddeus S. "Teddy" Kulczyk, 89, of Gardner, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 6, 2014 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner. He was the son of the late William and Victoria (Maluchnik) Kulczyk.
Teddy attended Gardner High School graduating in 1943. He entered in the United States Army where he served as an Armorer during WWII Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, the American Theater Campaign Ribbon. The Good Conduct Medal, and the Victory Medal during this time of service.
Teddy worked for Gardner Machine Works as a machinist, the S. Bent Furniture Co. as an assistant maintenance foreman, and for the Gardner Housing Authority for 20 years in the maintenance department, retiring in 1992.
He enjoyed woodworking, gardening hunting, fishing, and cooking. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Gardner where he would pass the collection basket, a member of the Polish American Veterans in Gardner, and a member of the PACC in Gardner.
Teddy is survived by two sons; Gary Kulczyk and his wife Mary of Temple NH, and Thomas Kulczyk of Athol MA, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years Yvonne A (Boulanger) Kulczyk (2011), three brothers, and one sister.
A calling hour will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 from9:30am-10:30am from the Poliks Funeral Home 431 Pleasant St. Gardner. A mass of Christian Burial will be held immediately following at 11:00am in the St. Joseph’s Church 358 Pleasant St, Gardner. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Gardner immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations in Thad’s name be made to the: American Cancer Society New England Office 30 Speen Street Framingham, MA 01701.
