Theresa E. (Butler) Gallagher

Theresa E. Gallagher Athol – Theresa E. (Butler) Gallagher, 91, died Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare with her family by her side.      Theresa was born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, August 13, 1923, the daughter of Henry and Flora (Caouette) Butler.  She grew up in Athol where she attended school, later moving to Brooklyn, NY where she lived for many years, returning to Athol in 1977.        Theresa worked at the Chase Manhattan Bank while living in New York, the Athol Memorial Hospital, the Co-op Greenhouse in Orange, drove school bus for Mt Grace Transportation and worked at the former Jimmy’s Restaurant.  She was a member of Our Lady Immaculate Church, AMH Ladies Auxiliary, and the Orange Seniors.   She traveled to many destinations, her favorite being Ireland, enjoyed spending time with her family and attending all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events.         Her husband of 23 years, Patrick J. Gallagher, Jr. died in 1970.  She leaves a daughter, Patricia A. Saiya and her husband Raymond of Athol; three grandchildren, Candace Vadnais, Heather Mullane and her husband Jason and Shawn Saiya; three great-grandchildren, Halle Theresa Vadnais, Caoileen and Liam Mullane; a brother, John Butler of Orange, a sister-in-law, Claire Butler of Athol and several nieces and nephews.   She was predeceased by two brothers, William and Joseph Butler and two sisters, Rita Armienti and Bernadette Litchfield.      A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School Street, Athol with the Rev. Fr. Edwin Montana, pastor officiating .   In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations may be made in Theresa’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, P.O.
