GARDNER - Theresa Kulis, 61, of Gardner, passed away Wednesday morning, January 26, 2011, after a short illness. Theresa was the only child born to the late Frank "The General" and Helen (Kulczyk) Kulis. She lived in Gardner all of her life and graduated from Gardner High School. Early in Theresa's life she worked as a licensed hairdresser. She was also employed as a directory assistance operator for New England Telephone for over twenty years. She could also be found seasonally on weekends selling corn where she became known as one of the two "Corn Ladies."
Theresa enjoyed trips to the casinos, Rye Beach, NH, taking car rides, watching sports and caring for her beloved three cats - Babe, Minnie and Orange Aide. Theresa also took pride in being a good friend to those closest to her. She selflessly reached out to those in need and was always willing to give a helping hand.
Theresa was a member of St. Joseph's Church, the Holy Rosary Sodality, and the Telephone Pioneers.
In addition to her parents, Theresa was predeceased by Uncle Felix and his wife Jennie Kulczyk.
Theresa was loved by all of her relatives and friends. She will be sadly missed, especially by her closest family: Cousin Marilyn Rhodes and her four children, Kelly, Kim, Dennis and Danny; Cousin Felicia and David Poliks and their three children, Mark, Christine and Carolyn; Uncle Michael Kulis, his wife Jane, and children Penny, Joan, Jane, Miquel and Pamela. Theresa also had a great love for the youngest relatives, Ella "Bubbles," Lea, Ania, Elizabeth, Mark, Johnny and Avonna.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 31, 2011, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Poliks Funeral Home, 431 Pleasant Street, Gardner. A funeral mass will immediately follow at St. Joseph's Church, 358 Pleasant Street, Gardner.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Gardner Animal Shelter, 899 West Broadway, Gardner.
