Theresa J. (Levesque) Hakala

Theresa J. (Levesque) Hakala, 87, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Hadley at Elaine Care and Rehabilitation in Hadley, Massachusetts. Born on November 20, 1926 in Leominster, Theresa was the only child of Auguste Levesque and Virginie (Dion) Levesque.  She graduated from Leominster High School in 1944.  She worked as a bookkeeper for MCM and Plastic Turning, Co. in Leominster and at Cefalo Brothers, Inc. in Fitchburg.  Theresa loved her family and her family cherished her.  She lived to help others. She enjoyed being outdoors, especially in her beautiful garden, where she raised vegetables and flowers.  Theresa loved animals, especially the lucky dogs who were her companions.  She was a Girl Scout Leader, a member of the Lunenburg Senior Center and a faithful member of St. Boniface parish. Theresa is survived by her daughter, Karen Hakala and her husband, Joseph Connolly, of Amherst, MA and her son, Karl Hakala and his wife, Robin, of Frostburg, MD, her three grandchildren, William Connolly and his wife, Christina Stock, of Delaplane, VA,  Jeannie Hakala, of Somerville, MA and Karli Hakala, of Frostburg, MD, her cousins, including Pauline Melanson and Jane Levesque, a nephew, Peter Hakala and his wife Kathy Lee and a niece, Jenny Hingst and her husband, Tim, and her beloved great nieces and nephews. Theresa was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Wilho W. Hakala. Grateful acknowledgement is made to the staff at Hadley at Elaine Care and Rehabilitation Center for their unfailing loving care and attentiveness. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. in St. Cecilia’s Church, 180 Mechanic St., Leominster.  Burial will be at a later date. Calling hours will be held Monday, December 16, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. at the Simard Funeral Home, 14 Walker St., Leominster.
