LEOMINSTER- Theresa (Lil) J. Nisula, 89, died peacefully August 29, 2015, at St. Mary’s Healthcare Center in Worcester, MA.
Born on March 27, 1926, in Fitchburg, Theresa was the oldest of five children. With her two sisters, she attended St. Joseph’s School in Cleghorn and then St. Francis’ School in Fitchburg. On December 31, 1948, she married Ralph Nisula of Gardner, MA, with whom she spent over 50 years enjoying activities including bowling, line dancing, camping, and traveling to visit family and friends. Throughout the years, Theresa moved several times. In Austin, she was well loved by friends and spent many years working as a cafeteria manager in the Austin public schools, and in Sterling, MA, worked at Gothams of Leominster in the molding department. Theresa and her husband retired to Ocala, FL, where they lived out many more happy and healthy years.
Together Theresa and her husband were active in their communities as Eucharistic Ministers and as members of the Knights of Columbus. For five years she served as president of the Does Association for the Elks in Austin.
Left to honor Theresa’s memory are her sister, Mary Jane Thibaudeau; two of three step-children and several step-grandchildren; in-laws; a multitude of nieces, nephews, and extended family;; and many friends. She will be greatly missed by all. Theresa was preceded in death by her loving husband Ralph, her two brothers Leon and Paul, and her sister Georgianna Landry, who are all now celebrating her arrival into the eternal kingdom of heaven.
The funeral will be held Friday, September 4, from Simard Funeral Home, 14 Walker St., Leominster, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 in St. Cecilia’s Church, 180 Mechanic St., Leominster. Burial will be private.
