Baldwinville - Thomas J. Oja, Sr, 82 died Friday, June 24, 2022 at Heywood Hospital after an illness.
He was the husband of the late Jean (Wilson) Oja who died in 2007.
Thomas leaves four children, Thomas J. Oja, Jr of VA, Tawnee O’Malley of Webster, Troy Oja of Webster and Tracy Swenson of Gardner; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great great-granddaughter; three sisters, Nonie, Sandra and Linda; two brothers, Stuart and Derrill and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by one grandchild, four brothers and three sisters.
Thomas was born in Peterborough, NH on May 9, 1940 a son of the late Eino and Gladys (Ladeau) Oja. He served in the US Army during Vietnam. He worked as a Master Craftsman Carpenter for his whole life. He enjoyed playing darts, fishing, woodworking and the outdoors. He also collected baseball cards and coins. Above all his family meant the world to him as he loved all of them.
Thomas’ funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at 12 Noon in the Mack Family Funeral Home, 105 Central Street, Gardner, MA 01440.
Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Templeton, MA
A calling hour will be from 11:00 - 12 Noon prior to the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his name to the Montachusett Veterans Outreach, 268 Central Street, Gardner, MA 01440.
