ATHOL - Timothy J. O'Malley, 61, of 32 Burma Road, Athol, died Friday, April 2, 2010 in the UMass Memorial Medical Center, Lake Avenue, Worcester after an illness. He was born in Winchendon on November 20, 1948, the son of the late Francis O'Malley and Virginia (Laflamme) O'Malley of Winchendon. Tim grew up in Winchendon and graduated from Murdock High School with the class of 1966. He worked as a CNC Programmer for the former Union Twist Drill in Athol from 1966 to 1985. At the time of his death, Tim had worked for the Rodney Hunt Company in Orange for twenty-one years. Many years ago, Tim was on the Board of Directors for the local little league teams. He was a former Assistant and Cub Master of Pack 18 Cub Scouts in Athol. Tim was a member of the "Sons of the Legion" of the Edward J. Phillips American Legion in Athol and a member of the Athol-Orange Lodge of Elks. He was a communicant of Our Lady Immaculate Church and was a CCD teacher for the church. Tim was a fan of the Red Sox and Patriots. He enjoyed golfing and playing card games including cribbage. He enjoyed fishing with his wife, Gail, and being with his family. In addition to his mother, Tim also leaves his beloved wife of thirty-nine years, Gail A. (Gauthier) O'Malley of Athol; two sons, Timothy O'Malley, Jr. of Pennsylvania, Eric O'Malley of Texas; two sisters, Theresa O'Dea of Winchendon, Virginia Pakhaurst of Fitzwilliam, NH; six brothers, Joseph O'Malley of Wendell, Dennis O'Malley of Worcester, Michael O'Malley of Maine, Charlie O'Malley of Winchendon, Robert O'Malley of Athol, Daniel O'Malley of Rindge, NH; five grandchildren, Dyllan O'Malley, Cassandra O'Malley, Ryan O'Malley, Braden O'Malley, Keagan O'Malley; also many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Tim was predeceased by two brothers, Francis J. O'Malley, Jr., and Donald O'Malley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Winchendon. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, April 7, 2010 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Fiske Funeral Home, 1356 Main Street, Athol . In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society's New England Division Office, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or to the Our Lady Immaculate Church Building Fund, 192 School St., Athol, MA 01331.
