ATHOL - Vicky (Joly) (Soucie) Janik, 83 of Athol, died Sunday, May 27, 2018 at home.
She was born in Athol, on December 2, 1934, the daughter of the late William and the late Dianna (Savoie) Joly.
She grew up in Athol, moved to Farley and went to middle school in Erving and high school in Orange. She graduated with the Orange High School class of 1952. She moved back to Athol and worked at the former UTD for 12 years and the L.S. Starrett Co. for 22 years, retiring in 2000. She was a member of the Athol Golden Ages, AARP and was on the Council on Aging Board. She was a communicant of Our Lady Immaculate Church.
Vicky enjoyed traveling with her husband Gene after retirement. She especially enjoyed time spent with her family.
She leaves one son, Mark J Soucie and his wife Ann of Athol; one sister, Rita Raymond of Arizona; one brother, Robert Joly of Athol; two grandchildren, Jessica Soucie, Timothy Soucie and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Eugene A. Janik; by her daughter, Karen Soucie; by seven brothers: William Joly Jr., Joseph Joly, Charles Joly, Arthur Joly, Rev. Henry Joly, Omer Joly, Francis Joly; and by four sisters, Cecilia Willis, Irene Testagrossa, Helene Woffenden and Doralice Forsyth.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 10:30 am in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol. Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Friday, June 1, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home 110 New Athol Road, Orange.
