VICTOR J. COOLIDGE
ATHOL-Victor J. Coolidge, 90, formerly of 303 Sanders Street, died Thursday, July 25, 2002 in Quabbin Valley Healthcare, following an illness. He leaves four cousins, Helen Burchell of New York City, Andrew J. Lashenske of Natick; Paula Burgess of Durham, North Carolina; and Sonya Barnette of Gaithersburg, Maryland; two nieces, Lauretta Coolidge of Hartford, Wisconsin, and Vilma Cingiene, and family in Lithuania.
He was born in Athol, Jan. 2, 1912, a son of Simon and Mykalana (Lebesky) Coolidge, and was a lifelong resident of town. He was a graduate of Athol High School.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Coolidge was employed at the L. S. Starrett Company for 25 years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, a member and past secretary of the American-Lithuanian Naturalization Club, and the Edward H. Phillips Post 102, American Legion. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an ornithologist and raised quail.
The funeral, with military honors, will be held Monday from the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home, 137 Main Street, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 105 Main Street. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery.
A calling hour will be from 9 to 9:45 a.m. in the funeral home.
