Wallace H. Roach

ATHOL - Wallace H. Roach, 96 formerly of 33 Bryant Street, Athol, died Monday, March 15, 2010 in the Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol. He was born in Brattleboro, VT, on July 17, 1913, the son of the late Albert A. and the late Eva D. (Hemingway) Roach. He worked as a millwrite and was employed by the former Union Twist Drill Company for over sixteen years, he retired in 1975. He was a member of the Athol Golden Agers. He was a resident of Athol for over 83 years. He attended the Athol Congregational Church. He was in CCC Camp 1 1/2 Brimfield, MA, during the depression. He enjoyed boating and waterskiing. He leaves two daughters: Rita M. McLean and her husband Douglas of Roanoke, VA, Roberta M. Schnur and her husband Stuart of Murrells Inlet, SC; one son: Richard N. Roach of Oklahoma City, OK; one sister: Lillian Drozdowski of Erving, MA; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Sabra Young, Mabel Shelters and Della Roach; and by three brothers, Charlie Roach, Forrest Roach and Albert Roach Jr. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the Fiske Funeral Home, 1356 Main Street, Athol. Burial in Highland Cemetery will be at a later date. A calling hour will be held Thursday, March 18, 2010, from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made in his memory to the Athol Congregational Church, 1225 Chestnut Street, Athol, MA 01331.
